The Home Depot, Inc., which is also commonly known as Home Depot/mycard, is a multinational home improvement and construction retail Corporation based in the United States of America. This place is popular for selling different tools, appliances and construction products, and also offers services like fuel and transportation rentals. In the United States, Home Depot is ranked as the largest home improvement retail company and in 2021, they gathered a total revenue that exceeded 151 billion dollars and employed more than 490,600 people. The company’s headquarters are in Cobb County, Georgia and their mails are addressed to Atlanta.

History

The Home Depot/mycard was founded together by a group of five people, in 1978. They were Bernard Marcus, Arthur Blank, Pat Farrah, Ron Brill and Ken Lang one. They are all American Billionaires who founded this company together. Bernard Marcus was the first Chief Executive Officer of Home Depot/mycard and he stayed in office until his retirement in the year 2002. He worked alongside Ronald Brill and Arthur Blank at the Handy Dan Home Improvement, but they were all terminated from their job positions almost at the same time. This made them work together and create what the world knows today as Home Depot.

Worldwide Expansion

The Home Depot/mycard has more than 2300 stores across the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.

In Canada, The Home Depot employs more than 28,000 people and they have about 182 stores across Canada where retail operations are carried out. There are stores of Home Depot Canada in all of the ten provinces and also serves the territories of Nunavut, Yukon and Northwest Territories through online sales.

In Mexico, The Home Depot/mycard has around 126 stores and as a result, has become one of the largest retailers in the country. The Home Depot opened its first store in Mexico in 2001. By 2004, they started branching out and expanding across the country and bought Home Mart, which was the second largest retailer in Mexico. Home Depot in Mexico has about 15000 employees.

In China, Home Depot announced their acquisition of The Home Way in December 2006. This resulted in an immediate entry of them into the Chinese Market but their success was short-lived. In 2006, Home Depot closed their last Beijing store. By 12th September, 2012, Home Depot/mycard has to close off all their stores across China, with no further plans on reopening.

There were also some operations on acquisitions that happened in some South American countries of Peru, Chile and Argentina.

Many big retailers offer their customers credit points after they shop from their stores. These credit scores are saved in the customer’s store account and can be redeemed as a cash discount. Home Depot/mycard offers the same service. Customers can use their membership card and redeem credit points for discount. With the help of their website, customers can also log in to their account and keep a track of their credit points.
